Can Dogs Eat Zucchini Bread? – Nutrition Card

If your dog likes bread and sees you eating a delicious slice of zucchini bread, please resist those tender eyes begging you to give them some of that bread.

As you will see in this article, we should avoid giving our dogs zucchini bread.

Zucchini is a safe food for dogs, it even contains substances that help maintain body tissues, the risk that it can harm our animals is because the base ingredients are flour and sugar, and toppings such as chocolate or nuts are usually added, and these four ingredients are not the best options to feed our dogs.

Risks

Overweight

A small piece of bread once in a while will not cause obesity, but constant feeding of small pieces of bread can lead to weight gain.

As mentioned above, bread contains mostly sugar and flour, two ingredients dogs should not eat in large proportions because physiologically they do not need these carbohydrates, and they will accumulate as fat.

Chocolate intoxication

Theobromine is a substance in chocolate, especially bitter chocolate, that dogs take a long time to metabolize, so its consumption can generate signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, and even convulsions.

Nut Poisoning

Nuts and some dried fruits contain something called “antinutrients” which means that they inhibit the absorption of certain vitamins, minerals, or proteins, this can lead to diseases such as kidney or bladder stones, vitamin deficiency, etc.

Although it all depends on the amount they consume, the important thing is to understand that if we want to reward them, there are other options that can be much more beneficial than zucchini bread.
