Can Dogs Eat Cinnamon Twists? – Nutrition Card

Maybe you are a cinnamon twist lover, and you are wondering if your dog can also eat this morsel of the gods.

The answer is yes, but in moderation.

You should know that this is food that your dog may enjoy and if you give him a small piece it is very unlikely that your dog will suffer from food poisoning. But it will not provide any nutrients to his body, on the other hand, its excessive consumption can harm him.

Risks

Remember that dogs should not eat flour, we add it to their diets, but it should be in small amounts because they are mostly carnivores, and carbohydrates in their diet should be present in smaller quantities.

Cinnamon twists are made of sugar, salt, oil, and flour which increase blood sugar and insulin levels, this happens physiologically every time dogs eat, the problem is that giving these treats several times a day keeps insulin active most of the time and this can cause hormonal imbalances and end up causing diabetes.

Excessive consumption can also lead to obesity, which can make our dogs more susceptible to diseases such as fatty liver or even bone problems.

Recommendations

Do not give more than three small pieces per week of cinnamon twist, do not exceed 10 grams per serving, especially if your dog weighs less than 10 kg.

If your dog has obesity, gastrointestinal diseases, or hormonal diseases, do not give this food.
